Upgrading My Skincare: Dermalogica Review

When it comes to getting my skin right, I’ve tried a lot of different products over the years. Thankfully, I’m at a point in life where I can utilize people who are trained to take care of skin and all the different challenges that come about from diet, genetics, and hormones.

Recently at my facial appointment, my esthetician asked what products I use. I told her that I’ve been using the ones recommended by my dermatologist a few years ago, the Aveeno Facial Bar and I also use the Aveeno Moisturizing Oil. While I liked the products, I felt like my skin was still lacking moisture.

She recommended Dermalogica. I've heard of it but never used it before. She said it's the product line she uses and typically recommends for her clients. She gave me samples of each product to use for a week. She also said that it’s the best option to ensure I like it before I purchase the products since they average around $40 per bottle. I recommend this as well for anyone testing out a new product, try the sample first if they’re available.

After just two days of using the samples, I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. It didn't feel like products were just sitting on top of my skin, but my face felt very nourished from the inside.

It's been about six weeks and I am truly loving this product line! Here’s what I’ve been using.

Here’s a breakdown of the products I’m using

For pre-cleanse, I use the Dermalogica Precleanse. It’s described as “a plant-based, vegan cleansing oil that is light-weight and formulated with a blend of nourishing olive and kukui oils to purify pores and deep clean residual products that build up on skin throughout the day.”

Next in the regimen is the Intensive Moisture Cleanser. It’s described as a light, creamy cleanser enhanced with BioReplenish Complex™ to remove impurities while actively moisturizing dry, depleted skin. Sephora’s website says it can be used for oily, dry, and combination skin types.

The Skin Smoothing Cream Moisturizer has been a game-changer for sure. Like I mentioned before, my skin absorbs this and I actually can tell the difference.

The Multi-Active Toner is great for a freshly clean face. As you may know, toner works to restore your skin’s PH levels after you wash it and strip the dirt and oil away.

Lastly, and not any less important no matter your skin tone is SPF. Dermalogica has their Invisible Physical Defense Sunscreen SPF 30 that blends into the skin instead of making you look gray or washed out.
