Restaurant Review: Fogo de Chao

jamaseesimms

If there’s one thing I’ve learned with trying new places, it is to take a chance! Sometimes it feels scary going somewhere and you’re not sure how you’ll like it.

A few weeks ago, I took my own advice. For years I’ve seen Fogo de Chão (pronounced fo-go dèe shoun), but didn’t think I would like it simply because I don’t eat red meat often. While in Baltimore for our anniversary weekend, we were headed to lunch reservations somewhere else, but had 45 minutes to spare. We ended up walking by Fogo and said let’s do it!

Fogo de Chão is an authentic Southern Brazilian Steakhouse that offers a variety of simply seasoned meats that are carefully fire-roasted and carved tableside by Brazilian trained gaucho chefs.

We sat at the bar. I’m not a huge fan of sitting at bars; a lot of them feel really icky LOL. Like most upscale spots, the bar had really nice chairs, beautiful decor, and a classy ambience. So I was happy to grab a seat there.

We grabbed passion fruit mimosas. I love any place that has various flavors of mimosas. The mimosas were delicious! I lost count of how many I drank 🙈

Fogo de Chão’s gourmet Market Table includes seasonal salads, fresh vegetables, hot side dishes, soup, and charcuterie. They have an award-winning wine list, tempting dessert menu, and creative and classic cocktails. @igotsoul89 tried the Brazilian-inspired cocktail caipirinha - featuring fresh strawberries, muddled limes, sugar cane, and cachaca.

For our bar food, we tried the Brazilian empanadas, which were my fave! I’ve tried empanadas from so many places and these were the absolute best! We also tried the spiced chicken sliders and grilled beef tenderloin skewers which were so good!

Fogo de Chão is most known for their full Churrasco experience, a prix-fixe menu where their chefs carve fire-roasted meats like Picanha (sirloin), Filet Mignon, Ribeye, Fraldinha (sirloin), Cordeiro (lamb) and more. The experience starts at the gourmet Market Table & Feijoada Bar and you can visit as often as you like during your meal.

We loved this spot so much we ended up going here twice on staycation! We, for sure, will be back soon!
