My husband and I recently went on a short day date. We wanted to take some time to hang out while we had an hour to spare. We decided to do a bookstore date! We love going to bookstores. While the entire world has almost completely gone digital, I love visiting bookstores and coffee shops. I also prefer physical books over e-books. I look at my screen for hours a day for my day job, business, and socially — so I love to unplug! We went on a date to Barnes & Noble in our neighborhood. We grabbed coffee and cupcakes from the bakery inside and then shopped for books. We saw history books, children’s books, and so many other genres.
With being in quarantine and additional cooking, I decided I wanted to grab a new cookbook! I’ve purchased cookbooks in the past and loved the dishes, backstories on the meals, and the pictures.
I went through the aisles and saw tons of books. I then saw Snoop Dogg’s, From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen. When I flipped through, I immediately knew I had to have the book LOL. The most important thing for me when buying cookbooks is to ensure it has dishes I want to eat. All of the recipes I saw looked amazing and there were some foods I’ve eaten before, but haven’t made from scratch, which I was excited to try!
We made the No Limit Po’ Boy sandwiches and they were amazing! A hit with the entire family! Next up, we are baking the cookies from scratch. We typically buy pre-made cookie dough, so the kids are excited for this dish.
I also love how his book ties in parts of his life, like the Gin & Juice cocktail.
So, would I recommend this cookbook?
A strong YES! One thing to note is that it has a lot of soulful dishes, so I wouldn’t eat all of the meals every day (not unless I was working out consistently LOL).
Make sure to follow me on Instagram where I share some of the recipes I’ve made from this book!
